The idea that a minivan (or people mover or MPV or soccer parent ride or whatever you want to call it) can’t be stylish is, frankly, bunko. Fancy vans do exist, and if you’re a Ford fan in Europe you’ll soon have a new option in the Ford Galaxy Vignale.

The seven-seater is an ideal choice for families, but with the addition of the high-lux Vingale trim to the lineup, it also becomes a fine choice for making a fashion statement. The new Ford Galaxy Vignale boasts a signature flying V upper grille surrounded in satin chrome, which helps give it a more distinct flavor than the Galaxy Trend and Titanium trims. It’s just stylish enough that you could pretty easily shake the minivan stigma.

On the inside, the Galaxy Vignale ramps it up with a Salerno leather-wrapped instrument panel and center console, both of which feature Metal Grey contrast stitching for maximum ooh factor. The interior gets aluminum appliques for that bit more style, heated steering wheel for your cold-weather comfort, and 10-way multi-contour front seats with temperature control and massage. See? Fancy van, man.

The new Ford Galaxy is available with a trio of 2.0-liter EcoBlue diesel engine options, including a Bi-turbo that puts out 237 horsepower and pairs exclusively with the eight-speed automatic transmission with rotary gear shift.

New for the Galaxy is available FordPass Connect, which allows drivers and passengers to connect to high-speed Wi-Fi and works with the Local Hazard Information function to provide a heads up about upcoming traffic incidents. SYNC 3 is also available with an 8-inch color touch screen and built-in Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility.

Will minivans ever be as desirable as trucks and SUVs? Probably not, but then acid wash and fanny packs have made a nice little comeback, haven’t they? If that were ever to become the case (in Europe, at least), the Ford Galaxy Vignale will probably be leading the charge.
