Good Housekeeping named the 2019 Lincoln Navigator its choice for Best Large Luxury SUV in its 2019 Best New Car Awards. The Navigator earned the top prize for its segment after undergoing 5,000 miles of road testing and being considered for qualities related to safety, value, handling, design, and technology.

As for why its team of judges selected the Navigator over the competition, Good Housekeeping writes that the SUV is “the best Lincoln in a while … equal parts total utility vehicle and luxe family ride.” Among its standout features are its spacious second and third rows, generous cargo space, a total of 13 cup holders, and 30-way Perfect Position seats.

The Lincoln Navigator offers seating for up to eight and a maximum of 172 cubic feet of passenger volume. The Navigator offers 20.9 cubic feet of cargo space behind the third row with the seats fully upright (36 cubic feet for Navigator L) and up to 103.3 cubic feet of cargo space with the second and third rows folded flat (120.2 cubic feet for Navigator L).

GH also praised the Navigator’s surprisingly quick acceleration as part of the reason it earned the 2019 Good Housekeeping Best Large Luxury SUV award. The Navigator is powered by a mighty 450-horsepower Twin-Turbocharged 3.5-liter engine and smooth-shifting 10-speed SelectShift automatic transmission, and its use of lightweight aluminum alloy helps improve its driving dynamics over the previous generation.

Because of its larger size, Good Housekeeping specifically recommends driver-assistive safety features like the Blind-spot Information System with Cross-Traffic Alert and Lane-Keeping System. The Navigator is available with a wide range of safety technologies including adaptive cruise control, Forward and Reverse Sensing, and a head-up display.

The team behind the 2019 Good Housekeeping Best New Car Awards include Chief Technologist and Head Engineer Rachel Rothman, GH Institute Director and Lead Consumer Tester Laurie Jennings, Senior Editor Nicole Saporita, Buyer’s Guide Assistant Editor Drew Dorian, and Car and Driver Chief Brand Officer Eddie Alterman.
