The study’s findings
The J.D. Power 2020 Manufacturer Website Evaluation Study – Winter took into account the speed, navigation, appearance and information/content of each automaker’s website. The goal was to discover which website was easiest for drivers to utilize in the midst of the car-shopping process.
The study gathered responses from 10,031 shoppers interested in purchasing a new vehicle at some point during the next 24 months. Out of 1,000 possible points, Mitsubishi earned 848 points, outranking the other mass-market brands. The average score within the segment was 826 points.
Why is it important?
An automaker’s website is a key component of the car-shopping process since it provides pertinent information and allows you to determine which features and attributes you value most. In fact, J.D. Power writes, “Well-designed aspects of website appearance, navigation and speed enhance shoppers’ ability to locate specific content, helping to drive traffic to showrooms.”
It’s also important that a website is easy to navigate not only on the computer but also on smartphones and tablets. Additional aspects, such as customization and personalization, also have an effect on a driver’s experience online, which is why J.D. Power included these trends and more in the most recent study.
J.D. Power first released the study back in 1999. Since then, J.D. Power has continuously updated the study to keep it relevant and learn how drivers feel about current trends.
