“This is a great milestone for Mitsubishi Motors because it means that five million customers have entrusted the brand over the past 30-plus years, an we hope many more will give us that same opportunity in the future,” said Don Swearingen, executive vice president for Mitsubishi Motors North America. “Our current sales momentum combined with a technologically innovative product pipeline primes Mitsubishi for great success in the US for many years to come.”

Mitsubishi’s newest sales record really comes as no surprise, after the Japanese carmaker reported its 21st month in a row of year-over-year sales increases after its November sales. Currently, the brand is up 23% over the same period in 2014.

This sales increase is helped in most part by the launch of the 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander, which features over 100 improvements and has a 43% sales increase for the year. The Outlander’s sales, plus those of the Outlander Sport, which is up 26% for the year, make Mitsubishi one of the go-to brands for great crossover vehicles.
