A look back at the 2019 Rebelle Rally
For last year’s competition, Team Record the Journey included 31-year U.S. combat veteran Rachael Ridenour and seven-year U.S. Air Force veteran Karah Behrend. Behrend made history as the first adaptive-athlete driver to both compete in and finish the Rebelle Rally. The team rode in a modified Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross and received the 2019 Rebelle Rally Team Spirit Award as well as achieved second place.
What to expect for this year’s event
As the first U.S. all-women’s off-road navigational rally raid, the Rebelle Rally is an exciting event. For 2020, it will take place over the course of 10 days and across 2,000 km from Lake Tahoe, California, to the Imperial Dunes of Glamis. Organizers of the event will also be allowing electrified vehicles to compete for the first time.
Ridenour will once again be leading Team Record the Journey and is currently looking for a driver to accompany her. They will be riding in the 2020 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV and attempt to be the first to reach the finish in an electrified vehicle.
The Outlander PHEV utilizes all-electric power for zero-emission driving and has an all-electric range of 22 miles. When you need to charge the battery, you can do so in just 25 minutes with DC Fast Charging. In difficult driving situations, such as when climbing a steep hill, the SUV runs on gasoline power, utilizing the 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine.
