Monthly Acura Sales Dip, but MDX and RDX Thrive
American Honda Motor Co. has reported March 2015 sales figures, with a total of 126,293 Honda and Acura vehicles being sold last month. Acura automobiles accounted for 14,670 units, down 5.8% from March of last year. (The Honda division experienced a similar sales dip, with year over year sales down 5.2% last month).
But Acura had some things to cheer about—like the fact that total Acura sales are up 4.5% through the first quarter of 2015. Additionally, the TLX luxury sedan enjoyed its third straight month-over-month sales increase, moving 3,430 units last month.
But the real stars, as always, were the automaker’s luxury SUV offerings. The MDX and RDX combined for over 9,400 sales, even as enhanced versions of each vehicle come to market.
“The continued leadership of the MDX and RDX in the luxury SUV segment demonstrates the positive direction we are taking with our Acura product lineup,” said Mike Accavitti, Acura Division senior vice president and general manager. “As we turn our attention to strengthening our lineup of Acura sedans, we are buoyed by the first Pirelli World Challenge series victory of the Acura TLX GT race car as a sign of good things to come.”
