Ford Parts and Service Facility Opens in Erbil

Ford’s vehicle distributor for Iraq, Al Kasid Group, opened a new facility in Erbil last month. The 4,800-square-foot sales, service, and parts facility on Mosul joins similar facilities in Dohuk, Sulaymaniyah, and Baghdad, and puts Ford on a course to reach all of Iraq’s major governorates by the end of next year.

A special opening ceremony took place in early July and was attended by the Kurdistans’ Minister of Trade and Industry, the United States Consul General, Ford Middle East management, and local dignitaries.

“We’re thrilled to be working with Ford as its official distributor in Iraq, and we’re extremely proud of our progress since our appointment six months ago,” said Al-Kasid Group Chairman and CEO Mouwafak A. Jamil. “Al-Kasid Group has been a pioneer in the market and a leader in the automotive sector in Iraq for decades, and our dedicated team is fully committed to serve our customers by offering Ford’s exciting, world-class products from our new facilities.”

In addition, Ford and Al Kasid Group are opening a 7,858 square-foot showroom near the University of Baghdad. Ford also operates a Ford Service Center in the Camp Sarah district. Additionally, plans are underway for Al-Kasid Group to open a Ford showroom, service center, and parts facility in Sulaymaniyah.

“It gives us great pleasure to help dedicate these world-class Ford facilities with Al-Kasid Group,” said Bilal Jabak, regional sales manager, Ford Middle East. “Offering customers in Iraq world-class products and a superior ownership experience is our key priority, and Ford is committed to this. We are confident that Al-Kasid Group’s strong market presence and commitment to service excellence will provide Ford customers the very best levels of support.”

Ford is anticipating a big response to its all-new Expedition and new F-150 when both launch in Iraq. Jabak notes that Ford considers Iraq a major market in its future strategy and that the launch of the new vehicles is a demonstration of its commitment to the country.
