2019 Dodge Challenger Drives Away with Three Awards from the Annual Texas Auto Roundup
The 2019 Dodge Challenger has earned major bragging rights from the members of the Texas Auto Writers Association. Driving away with three major awards, including the top honor, from the TAWA-sponsored annual Texas Auto Roundup, the 2019 Dodge Challenger is officially the “Car of Texas,” “Performance Coupe of Texas,” and “Performance Car of Texas.”

“Driving enthusiasts in Texas love horsepower, and the Dodge Challenger’s classic muscular lines and monumental power won over our voters,” said Michael Marrs, president of TAWA and co-host of the “In Wheel Time” radio show in Houston.
Powertrain options abound in the 2019 Challenger. The standard 3.6-liter V6 paired to a TorqueFlite eight-speed automatic transmission delivers a substantial horsepower rating of 305 and 268 lb-ft of torque. Move up to the R/T to earn 375 horsepower and 410 lb-ft of torque with the 5.7-liter V8 HEMI.
The R/T Scat Pack’s 392 V8 SRT HEMI engine thunders over the road with 485 horsepower and 475 lb-ft of torque while the SRT Hellcat tops out at an exhilarating 717 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque thanks to its supercharged 6.2-liter HEMI V8 SRT engine.
For ultimate power and the most intense driving experience, the SRT Hellcat Redeye’s 6.2-liter V8 Supercharged high-output V8 and TorqueFlite eight-speed automatic transmission delivers 797 horsepower and 707 lb-ft of torque.
The 2019 Dodge Challenger offers drivers a choice of six powerful trim levels: SXT, GT, R/T, R/T Scat Pack, SRT® Hellcat, and SRT® Hellcat Redeye. The SXT and GT trims offer the choice of RWD or AWD while the rest of the trims are available only in RWD.
