The special edition will be limited to 2,500 units, all scheduled for production during July 2026. The model commemorates both the country’s Semiquincentennial and Nissan’s long-running production of the Frontier in the United States.

Nissan has been assembling the Frontier in the U.S. since 1998. The pickup was first produced in Smyrna, Tennessee, before production moved to Canton, Mississippi, in 2012. Since manufacturing began, the company says it has built more than two million Frontier pickups in the United States, including one million at the Canton facility alone.

Nissan Highlights Its U.S. Manufacturing Footprint

The unveiling of the Frontier 250th Anniversary Edition coincides with Nissan’s latest production milestone in Mississippi. According to the automaker, the one-millionth Frontier has now rolled off the assembly line in Canton, where the model has been built since 2012.

The Frontier has always stood for rugged capability, durability and adventurous fun–hallmarks of Nissan’s DNA,” said Christian Meunier, chairman of Nissan Americas. He added that the pickup also represents “the strength of American manufacturing,” describing the anniversary model as a tribute to “the workers, communities and enduring spirit that drive our industry and our country forward.”

A Limited Edition With Subtle Exterior Changes

Rather than introducing mechanical or major visual revisions, Nissan has focused the anniversary package on a single commemorative design element. The Frontier emblem on the tailgate incorporates a monochrome Stars and Stripes pattern as a reference to the United States’ 250th anniversary.

The package will be available exclusively on the Frontier Pro-4X and will not carry an additional charge. Buyers will be able to order it on both the short- and long-wheelbase versions, as well as the Roush model, while retaining access to the full range of existing exterior paint colors. Production of the edition will be capped at 2,500 vehicles.

V6 Powertrain Remains Unchanged as Sales Climb

The Frontier 250th Anniversary Edition retains the same mechanical configuration offered across the rest of the lineup. It is equipped with a naturally aspirated 3.8-liter V6 engine producing 310 horsepower and 281 pound-feet of torque.

That output matches the standard horsepower offered by the Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon in the midsize pickup segment. The publication also notes that the Frontier remains one of the few pickups in its class to continue using a naturally aspirated engine.

Nissan also reported stronger demand for the model. Frontier sales reached 6,773 units in May 2026, an increase of 24.0 percent compared with the same month a year earlier. The company said this represented the nameplate’s best May sales performance since 2010.
