Each year, the bilingual car website chooses the best vehicles in Canada in a variety of categories. This year, the website named the Ram 1500 its 2020 pickup truck of the year.

“A renewed design and an interior worthy of a luxury car in the higher trims; the Ram is the most attractive offering in this segment,” said about its pick. “The 1500 features not just a sumptuous interior, but one that’s more useful and packed with next-generation tech its rivals simply can’t match.”’

In addition to a revised interior, the 2020 Ram 1500 is now North America’s most powerful half-ton diesel pickup truck. The upcoming 3.0-litre EcoDiesel V6 will boast a whopping 480 lb-ft of torque, as well as a maximum towing capability of 5,697 kg.

The Ram 1500 has an exclusive version only available in Canada. The 2020 Ram 1500 Sport has body-colour door handles, grille surround, front fascia, and side mirror, alongside black badging for a striking exterior appearance. The interior is as luxurious as the 1500’s other trim levels, with power-heated bucket seats and the Uconnect multimedia centre. The fact that it was designed just for Canadian drivers shows Ram’s commitment to its Canadian market.

For the Ram 1500, this is the latest in a slew of awards for the redesigned truck. It was named the 2019 North American Truck of the Year at this year’s Detroit Auto Show, as well as being named a Consumer Guide Best Buy for eight consecutive years. Truck Trend chose the Ram 1500 for its 2019 Truck of the Year award, and it also won Motorweek’s 2019 Drivers’ Choice award. In Canada specifically, the Ram 1500 was recently named the best full-size pickup truck in the 2020 Le Guide de l’auto/The Car Best Buy Awards.

“In the past two weeks alone, Ram brand has been recognized with over half a dozen awards,” commented Reid Bigland, President and CEO, FCA Canada. “From back-to-back MotorTrend Truck of the Year titles, to ‘Truck of Texas,’ to today’s honours, the strength of Ram trucks is winning over hard-to-please critics across North America.”
