“A truck as a family car makes sense when you drive the Ram 1500 – especially if your family is outdoorsy and has lots of toys,” said Alistair Weaver, editor-in-chief at Edmunds. “With reclining rear seats, class-leading legroom and an exclusive coil-spring rear suspension, the Ram 1500 outclasses many traditional SUVs in comfort and luxury.”

Three-hundred vehicles vying for the 2019 Best Family Truck award were put through rigorous tests that included a trek on winding canyon roads, freeways and urban streets that measured a distance of 115 miles. The vehicles were assessed in several categories including utility and value, performance, technology, interior, and comfort.

The 2019 Ram 1500 features five available trim levels — Tradesman, Big Horn/Lone Star, Laramie, Laramie Longhorn, and Limited. It features a new e-Torque mild hybrid system, which increases its fuel efficiency rating. Embedded with split-screen capability, the segment-leading 12-inch touch screen delivers a clear view of entertainment and driver assist features. Although sporting a 225 weight loss compared to previous generations, the 2019 Ram 1500 is more durable than ever before. When properly equipped, the 2019 Ram 1500 can tow a maximum of 12,750 pounds.
