Man Wrecks Car Full of People Trying to Get in a Selfie
Logically, taking selfies has to be, in some way, connected to the continued existence of the human race. Otherwise, there is no excuse for the following.
Four people were injured in a crash where an SUV ran off the road and collided with a tree because the driver was trying to get in on a selfie. According to Maine State Police, 29-year-old Jordan Toner was driving with seven passengers when he leaned over to join the photo, swerved off the road, and hit the tree.
The injured people were two women sitting in the front seat and two men in the rear rows. The women were not wearing seat belts, so one suffered a fractured nose and a cut above her eye, while the other suffered a neck injury as well as a possible back injury. The two injured men sustained various injuries including cuts near their eyes and backs.
This crash could have easily been much, much worse. One year ago, Courtney Sanford posted a selfie on Facebook while she was driving bare seconds before her car veered across the center median, hit a recycling truck, ran off the road, hit a tree, and burst into flames. Courtney died.
Thank goodness that Toner’s crash didn’t result in any fatalities, so that we can point fingers and laugh at this goober who couldn’t resist the allure of a selfie.
However, we should all remember this as a sober warning to never text or especially post pictures while driving.
For no other reason, you really don’t want your last words to include chatspeak.
