The 2019 Ram 1500 beat out the Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 to take home the title of 2019 North American Truck of the Year. The panel of 54 judges, which was made up of U.S. and Canadian automotive journalists, vetted the contenders on characteristics including design, safety, segment leadership, handling, innovation, value, and driver satisfaction.

“Ram continues to lead the way in making a big truck double as a big family pleaser with as much attention paid to interior conveniences and ride comfort as to cargo hauling and towing,” said John Davis, executive producer at MotorWeek.

The 2019 Ram 1500 sports a 225-pound weight loss compared to previous model years, and offers drivers several choices of innovative drivetrains, including the fuel-efficient all-new eTorque mild hybrid system. The Ram 1500 also makes a big statement in infotainment with the pickup truck segment-leading 12-inch touch screen. If offers split-screen viewing and brilliantly projects the images gathered by the available 360-degree Surround View Camera.

“The Ram 1500 is an important product for FCA and winning this award is one of the highest honors,” said Reid Bigland, Head of Ram Brand. “In what is arguably the most competitive segment in the automotive industry, for the all-new 2019 Ram 1500 to be named North American Truck of the Year is tremendous recognition of the FCA employees who design, engineer, and build a pickup that truly stands out.”
