12 GM Vehicles Land in The Car Book’s 2015 Best Bets
The Car Book’s 2015 Best Bets awards have been released, and a number of GM vehicles make the cut and stand tall among the industry’s best.
The annual Best Bets, determined by The Center for Auto Safety and The Car Book, is based upon vehicles’ performance in nine different categories, including: combo crash tests, safety features, rollover, preventative maintenance, repair costs, warranty, fuel economy, consumer complaints, and insurance.
In all, 12 GM vehicles made the list, accounting for 40% of all honorees: the Chevy Sonic, Cruze, Trax, Traverse, and Silverado; Cadillac SRX, CTS, and XTS; and Buick Verano, LaCrosse, Encore, and Enclave.
No model scored lower than a 7 (out of 10), and the Sonic, Verano, XTS, all pulled down scores of 9. The CTS and Encore both earned perfect marks, making up half of all vehicles to earn top scores. Only the Volvo V60 and Tesla Model S were deemed worthy of 10/10 scores.
Each vehicle earns high marks for being well-rounded across all nine categories, with numerous vehicles pulling down perfect scores in varying categories. Among others, the SRX earns a 10 for preventative maintenance and the Enclave, Silverado, and Traverse earn a 10 for insurance costs.
