2018 Formula 1 Car Launch Dates
Edit: Red Bull Racing has announced it will reveal the RB14 on February 19.
Pre-season testing for the 2018 Formula One championship season is fast approaching and most teams have now made official announcements regarding the launch of their upcoming cars, the only exceptions being Haas F1 and, as is custom, Red Bull Racing.
All but Williams Martini Racing will reveal their car within a week of the first pre-season test, which will take place on February 26. Williams will reveal the FW41 at a London launch event on February 15, and it will be another five days before the next two teams—Sauber and Renault—reveal what they’ve been working on.
Mercedes and Ferrari, believed to be the championship contenders for 2018, will reveal their car on February 22, and have come to an unofficial agreement to do so at a different time of the day so as not to conflict with each other. Mercedes’ reveal will take place at the Silverstone circuit, as it did last year, and will be livestreamed. Most other teams’ reveals will be online-only.
Both Force India and the newly Honda-powered Toro Rosso will reveal their cars the day before pre-season testing, so it is believed they will simply do so at the race track in Catalunya, Barcelona, where testing takes place. Neither Red Bull nor Haas have said when they will reveal their cars, but the former has a habit of doing so on the first day of pre-season testing.
While everyone will be looking for key changes and updates in car design, the area likely to attract the most attention will be the cockpit, which will now feature the new—and much disliked—halo device.
