Turbocharged engines deliver impressive power and fuel efficiency, and for a long time, that came at a premium price. Thankfully, more and more automakers have answered consumers’ prayers for more budget-friendly vehicles equipped with turbocharged engines, and the editors at U.S. News & World Report have rounded up the 16 Cheapest Turbocharged Cars You Can Buy. Jeep fans can cheer, because the 2018 Renegade has made the list.

The 2018 Renegade Latitude and Altitude trims feature a standard 1.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine paired with a six-speed manual transmission. This powertrain delivers a smooth performance, with 160 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque.

“The subcompact Renegade has smooth handling in the city, though it really shines once you leave the pavement. With its available four-wheel drive, the Renegade is one of the most capable off-road and inclement weather performers in the class,” writes U.S. News & World Report writer John M. Vincent.

The 2018 Jeep Renegade is available at six trim levels: Sport, Latitude, Altitude, Upland, Limited, and Trailhawk®. All trims are available in 4×2 or 4×4 configurations, except for the Trailhawk® and Upland, which are only available in a 4×4 configuration.

Standard safety features on the 2018 Renegade include all-speed traction control, Hill Start Assist, Trailer Sway Damping, and Advanced Multistage front airbags. Infotainment features include available Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and a 7.0-inch touch-screen display.
